How to create Lo Shu Grid (Basic Grid)

Although the thought of learning Chinese Numerology can sound daunting, the Lo Shu Square is actually quite simple to master. It is this simplicity that makes its accuracy even more astounding!

Each number has its own assigned square, and any multiples of that number that occur will always go into the same assigned square. Starting at the bottom left is the number eight. Then above are three and four. The number one goes in the bottom square of the middle column, with five and nine in the squares above it working up. The right column is filled out by finishing the pattern from bottom to top with the numbers six, seven,  and two.

So the square assignments look like this:

What numbers are you going to enter into the square?

A birthdate of course! This is the most important number in a person‟s life, and it is the number we use with Lo Shu Square to start our profile.

First, write out the birthdate of the person you are going to do a square for in the following fashion:

Mahatma Gandhi Date of Birth

For October 02, 1869
Write: 10-02-1869

Next, enter the numbers into the square the way they are assigned. If there is more than one of the same number, they all go into the same square with a comma to separate them. Remember that we do not use zero.

The square for the birth date above should look like this:

As you can see, once you understand the placement it becomes very quick and easy to place all of the numbers of a person‟s birth date into Lo Shu Square. This is the layout that will be used to do their profiling.

Notice that both of the ones went into the same square. If you had a third number one it would also go into the same square along with the first two number ones. Also, notice again that we did not use the zero.

In the next section, we will discuss how to begin interpreting the numbers that we have placed into the square. We will first discuss how to interpret what is called „Arrows‟, and then will move on to interpreting single and multiple occurrences of each individual number.
